Tour of Aardhuis and the woods near Elspeet

The route starts in the middle of picturesque Elspeet. From here you drive through the extensive forests of Kroondomein Het Loo, a forestry whose history is closely linked to the royal family. It's so wonderfully quiet here. You pass the Aardhuis, the former hunting chalet of William III that serves as a museum and wildlife park. A nice break. Just before junction 61 you will pass the Hunneschans, a defense structure near the Uddelermeer. It consists of an earthen ring wall with a moat around it. Just past Garderen you drive through the Speulder and Sprielderbos, two ancient forest areas known for their dancing trees. You drive back to Elspeet via the Leuvenumse Bos. Here you pass De Hoop, a beautiful flour mill from 1894.
