Close to the border with Germany, the Twente landscape is beautiful. Denekamp is one of the largest villages in the region. Around the fifteenth century, it was still a small village with barely a hundred houses, which were located on the only village street. People were religious and went to the St. Nicholas Church, which was built in the thirteenth century from Bentheimer sandstone. The village of Noord Deurningen is nevertheless reasonably well-known for Klooster Noord Deurningen. This is an old manor and a farm, which have probably existed since the beginning of the thirteenth century. The Singraven estate and the associated watermill are also more than worth a visit. On the way back, you cycle straight through Ootmarsum.
