Description

The route starts at Brasserie Matt\\\'s, where you can enjoy a cup of coffee on the terrace. In this region, many flowers are grown every year behind the dunes on so-called ghost soils, soil that consists of a mixture of dune sand, clay and/or peat. The colorful spring and summer seasons are heralded by the blooming of crocuses at the end of March. But you also cycle along canals and ditches, green avenues and chic old country houses! The Rhijngeest estate, for example, dates from 1720, but has been extensively renovated in colonial style. The history of Endegeest Castle goes back to the beginning of the fourteenth century. Between Wassenaar and Noordwijkerhout you drive through Hollands Duin, a narrow but varied dune strip that was created by an interplay of nature and people.
