Endegeest

For the first time in history the castle, or at least an old noble house, appears in End Spirit in a charter of March 17, 1307, which we now only possess in a copy; the original has been lost. Female Hasekine van Endegeest is then borrowed by her cousin Heer Hendrik van Alkemade with Endegeest and 12 morrow land, 6 in front and 6 behind, after the death of her brother Jacob van Endegeest. after her inheritance on her 2 grandchildren. Presumably as one of the last descendants of the oldest known family that bore the name of Endegeest, as a widow (presumably one of Alkemade) she dedicated her own estate to the viscount of Leiden ( a Wassenaar) and to her cousin the Lord of Alkemade, each for half, to receive it back from them in loan, thus ensuring the support of two mighty lords.
