Description
Your cycling route starts at Van der Valk Hotel Middelburg. From here you will discover many beautiful windmills and the two jewels of Walcheren: the medieval port towns of Middelburg and Veere. Just before you leave the city, you drive past the De Koning flour mill, which was built in 1882 to replace a burned down mill. You cycle through green and water-rich polders to the cozy Veere, along the Walcheren Canal. A little further on is De Koe, a round stone mill. The Cow is still relatively young; it was not built until 1909. According to Zeeland tradition, the brick mill is white in color. From Veere you cycle for a while along the Veerse Meer. You will also come across't Welvaaren, the former flour mill from 1801 that replaced a standard mill that had blown down.
