Description
This route takes you over two dams from the Delta Works: the Haringvlietdam and the Brouwersdam. In between you can enjoy historic villages and a varied landscape on Goeree-Overflakkee.
Picturesque Goedereede
The Haringvlietdam (the sixth structure of the Delta Works) forms the starting point of this route. You drive along the wooded banks of the Zuiderdiep, after which you cycle through Goedereede. In this beautiful old town you can admire the striking tower from 1512 and the large village church from 1708. You can also take a leap back in time at the Haven, there are many houses from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries.
Delta works
It is nice and quiet to cycle in the dunes, so that you can enjoy the natural beauty to the fullest. On the Brouwersdam (the seventh building of the Delta Works) you can enjoy a delicious meal at Strandpaviljoen Brouw. After you have put your bare feet in the North Sea for a while, you cycle back to Goeree-Overflakkee. You drive along the Grevelingenmeer and the Slikken van Flakkee, and you also pass through the villages of Melissant and Stellendam.
