Too hay and too art route

This fun cycling route leads you through water-rich polders and an extensive peat meadow area, but also along medieval watercourses that lie between small, characteristic villages in the Vecht region. From historic Woerden it takes you to enjoy all the straight ditches, channels and canals for which the region is so famous. The highlight of your cycling tour will undoubtedly be De Haar Castle. This castle used to be known as Het Huys te Haer. The foundations of this castle were probably built in the twelfth century. As you would expect, the castle has suffered a lot from wars and battles. From 1892 onwards, the castle was rebuilt on the remains of the old fortress. The castle overlooks a beautiful extensive English landscape park and there is always something to do. You can be shown around by a guide or visit one of the many other events organized in the castle, such as concerts, fairs, children's activities or theater performances.
