Description
First a cup of coffee at Recreatiepark De Veerstal and then you get on your bike. This trip along the winding banks of the Oude IJssel takes you past numerous estates, castles and windmills. Landgoed Bingerden is one of the oldest preserved estates in the Netherlands. Watermill Laag-Keppel was built in the 19th century as a corn mill. The imposing Keppel Castle, built of red brick, stands on an island in the Oude IJssel. Landgoed Middachten is one of the largest private estates in the Veluwe. You also cycle through Doetinchem and the historic fortified town of Doesburg. You cycle back along the Lathumse Plas, one of the lakes of the extensive recreation area Rhederlaag. With its sandy beach, the Lathumse Plas is a wonderful place for those who want to take a break.
