Waterland and Twiske

Beautiful watery route through nice towns and beautiful nature reserve't Twiske. It goes without saying that this water has to be crossed twice with a ferry. Start from the beautiful town of Monnickendam where you also have many nice eateries. In the center there are many nice restaurants where you can have a delicious lunch or dinner. But on the Gouwzee, near the Hemmeland nature reserve, you can find a very nice place where you can eat well'on the beach\\\'. Strand4 is the name of this restaurant. With your feet in the sand and only come by bike or on foot. Or park and walk a short distance. The route runs via Monnickendam to the small village of Ilpendam. You cross it with the ferry and drive directly into a wonderfully beautiful nature reserve with many meadow birds. No car traffic, which is of course also wonderful. Then into the't Twiske nature reserve. Plenty of huge water spots. Great if you're cycling with kids and want to stop. They can indulge themselves there on the waterfront and in the water. There are also plenty of catering facilities on't Twiske. Then back towards another ferry and via the dike to Broek in Waterland. There are many houseboats along the dike. Worth a look. One big ribbon of living on the water. Broek in Waterland was once nominated as one of the three most beautiful villages in the Netherlands. Rightly so. You are not allowed to cycle through it without stopping. For example at the Havenrak, with a dome where Napoleon once stayed. Beautiful homes all in the 'Broekse colors'. Not everyone can live there ;) There are also a few nice catering spots in Broek in Waterland. Just a little nose and you've found them because Broek in Waterland is not that big. Via Broek in Waterland back to Monnickendam. Definitely a round to enjoy! Have fun.
