Tour of Markermeer and Hoorn

Hoorn has a lot to offer for every cyclist. The city has a rich history. The port of Hoorn soon overtook all other ports in the area except that of Amsterdam. In spring and summer, the many bulb fields to the east of Hoorn are in bloom and display cheerful colors - white, purple, red, yellow, orange, purple and pink, while further south you can enjoy the wonderful view over the Markermeer. Also visit two historic forts of the Defense Line of Amsterdam. One of the best preserved forts of that position is the Fort at Edam, which was built in the early twentieth century. An essential part of the defense was flooding the polder area north of Edam.
