Description

In the old cultural landscape of the Hoekse Waard you will experience an almost old-fashioned tranquility. The route starts in Maasdam. On the rippling water you will see De Hoop, a corn mill from 1822. Further on is the St. Antony mill, a polder mill from 1749. The somewhat higher Sint Anthoniepolder is the only polder in the Hoeksche Waard that did not fall during the infamous Sint-Elizabeth flood of 1421. flooded. Partly for this reason, there is a Romanesque church from 1357 on the dike. In Westmaas you can hardly miss the Windlust: this white mill dates from 1853 and is used for grinding grain.
