Spotting bottlenose dolphins and seals on the Oosterschelde

You first cycle to the beautiful Slot Haamstede, an old castle that dates back to the thirteenth century. In 1525, the castle was almost completely destroyed by a fire, which meant that the castle had to be rebuilt. What is special is that the only deciduous forest of Schouwen-Duivenland can be found on the estate of Slot Haamstede. The Oosterschelde is also special. Because it was a river arm for a long time, it was an area with both fresh and salt water for a long time. The Delta Works salinized the Oosterschelde, which resulted in unique flora and fauna. On the terrace of Bar Petit Restaurant't Oliegeultje you can gaze beautifully at the sandbanks on the other side. Bottlenose dolphins regularly show their dorsal fins and seals lie on the Roggeplaat enjoying a sunbath.
