Description

You first cycle to the beautiful Haamstede Castle, an old castle dating from the thirteenth century. In 1525, the castle was almost completely destroyed by fire, which forced the castle to be rebuilt. What is special is that the only deciduous forest in Schouwen-Duivenland can be found on the estate of Slot Haamstede. The Oosterschelde is also special. Because it was a river arm for a long time, it was an area with both fresh and salt water for a long time. The Delta Works salted the Oosterschelde, which produced unique flora and fauna. On the terrace of Bar Petit Restaurant't Oliegeultje you can admire the sandbanks on the other side. Bottlenose dolphins regularly show their dorsal fin and seals enjoy a sunbath on the Roggeplaat.
