Your route starts at Camping & Gastenverblijf De Brembroeken. Until the beginning of the twentieth century, the nature around Overloon was wild and untouched. Trees were planted on the sandy soil for timber production and over time the rugged nature was exploited. You will now discover the Overloonse Duinen, an area with drifting dunes, many juniper bushes and a piece of heathland. Be sure to get off at L117: The Battle of Overloon, a listening point on the Liberation Route. One of the fiercest battles in the Netherlands took place here during the Second World War. Geysteren watermill dates from 1897. Well Castle was badly damaged in the Second World War. Both the main and outer baileys were restored and are now on the National Monuments List, as are the bridges, the tithe barn and the historic garden that belong to the fortress.
