Ferry route across the IJssel

A beautiful cycling route along the western border of Salland along the river IJssel. A route from the TOP in Wijhe and then by ferry to the other side of the IJssel. Then via Welsum and Terwolde to Deventer where you take the ferry back to the east side of the IJssel. Then along the Nieuw Rande estate and Havezate de Haere to Olst and via Den Nul back to Wijhe. During this bike tour you will get to know the beautiful river IJssel. The IJssel is located in a large valley between the Veluwe and the Sallandse Heuvelrug. The river, including all its twists, is approximately 125 kilometers long and is one of the most beautiful rivers in the Netherlands. The combination of flowing water, the floodplains, the nature reserves, the pleasant hustle and bustle of both ships and pleasure boats makes the IJssel a major tourist attraction. There is a string of pearls along the IJssel: from the bunkers and casemates of the IJssel Line to painting spots and quiet places to sit with your feet in the IJssel. The city of Deventer and the idyllic towns of Olst and Wijhe occupy a prominent place along the IJssel.
