Ferry route over the IJssel

A beautiful cycling route along the western border of Salland along the river IJssel. A route from the TOP in Wijhe and then by ferry to the other side of the IJssel. Then via Welsum and Terwolde to Deventer where you take the ferry back to the east side of the IJssel. Then along the Nieuw Rande estate and Havezate de Haere to Olst and via Den Nul back to Wijhe. During this bike ride you will get to know the beautiful river IJssel. The IJssel is located in a large valley between the Veluwe and the Sallandse Heuvelrug. The river is about 125 kilometers long including all the twists and turns and is one of the most beautiful rivers in the Netherlands. The combination of running water, the floodplains, the nature reserves, the pleasant bustle of both ships and pleasure craft makes the IJssel a major tourist attraction. There is a chain of pearls along the IJssel: from the bunkers and casemates of the IJssel Line to painting spots and quiet places to sit with your feet in the IJssel. The city of Deventer and the idyllic towns of Olst and Wijhe occupy a prominent place along the IJssel.
