Historic Willemstad
On the edge of Klundert you can see some sixteenth-century defenses. Further on you will pass Fort Bovensluis, a fortress from 1862. Willemstad is a former fortified city, thanks to the many monumental buildings you get a nice glimpse into the past. The Mauritshuis dates back to 1623. Fort de Hel dates from 1811 and has a unique shape for the Netherlands, because it was built by the French.
