Tour of Hoogeveen

You can take a varied cycling tour around Hoogeveen in Drenthe. You start at the edge of the village of Hollandscheveld. The straight layout of roads and plots shows the peat peat history. It is quiet cycling here, while you look out over the meadows. You drive through Zuidwolde, north of this village you will see some historic hallenhuis farms in Ten Arlo. Further on you drive through Echten, where you pass a former manor and even more characteristic Drenthe farms. You can stop off at Hoeve Sonneclaer for a farm ice cream. This cold delicacy is made here traditionally from fresh organic milk. You drive a bit through Oude Kene, a restored stream valley. A little later you will discover the characteristic atmosphere of the town of Hoogeveen. Drenthe has so much to offer!
