Tour of Linge, Leerdam and Waal

You start this route at the parking lot on the edge of the Lingebos nature reserve. You cross the Linge, after which you drive along the dike along this river. You see vast grasslands and old farms. After a while you drive through'Glasstad\\\' Leerdam. The rich history of this town can still be seen in the old buildings, such as the Grote Kerk and the Hofje van Mrs. van Aerden museum. Also beautiful: the remaining and restored city walls. Further on you will pass the Fort at the Nieuwe Steeg. The fortress was built in 1879 as part of the New Dutch Waterline. Then you cycle through the polder. You can stop at Boerderijcamping De Hoge Haren for a coffee, after which you cycle along the Waal back to the starting point.
