The Overijssel Vecht valley near Ommen

The valley through which the winding Vecht winds its way, is a beautiful landscape in which picturesque villages, extensive estates, dense forests and wide moors stretch out. You feel like you've stepped back in time as you find your way through the peaceful, spacious area. The town of Vilsteren and the town of Ommen are also worth a visit. Ommen is an old Hanseatic city with a rich history. The center is bustling with life and conviviality. A special building in Ommen is the Het Laer manor, on a beautiful estate. Het Laer used to be a castle: the surrounding canals and the wooded area in which the castle came into its own are still visible.
