Description

This varied cycling route contains all the ingredients for a wonderful day out. First you drive to the picturesque village of Cothen. Here you can take a look at the centuries-old Rhijnestein Castle. Robber baron Jan van Rhijnestein once held several goldsmiths from Paris hostage here. The Oog mill in't Zeil dates from 1869. The vast Kromme Rijn region is great for cycling. You pass through the hamlet't Goy, further on you make a shortcut through the green landscaped Houten. Via Werkhoven you drive towards the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. The characteristic residential towers surrounding Langbroek initially functioned as defense, but later as a status symbol. You will also pass Amerongen Castle. Cycling along the dike you have beautiful views of the Lek and the fields. The route ends at Landwinkel and Schenkerij De Kersenhut.
