Your cycling route starts with a cup of coffee at KOKS Indoor & Outdoor Enjoying. From here you set course for a hidden gem of the Brabant landscape: the low-lying Peelven. This is a moist heathland area next to the Ullingse Bergen, where you can still see drifting sands. Typical heathland vegetation alternates with shrubs in the sloping, moist lowlands that provide shelter for amphibians. More towards the edges you will encounter grasslands, interspersed with alder coppices. If you come in spring, the fields are covered with cute yellow marsh marigolds. A herd of Scottish Highlanders strolls through the area, but Kempen heath sheep also graze here. The game is less visible: deer, badgers and squirrels dart away between the trees, where the hawk, sparrowhawk and yellowhammer reside.
