A tour around Deventer

You start this route in the historic heart of the Hanseatic city of Deventer. Cycling through the old streets you see many monumental buildings. You drive a bit through the beautiful Rijsterborgherpark, which was designed by Leonard Springer at the end of the nineteenth century. Further on you cycle on quiet roads through the bocage landscape. You also drive through the Wechelerveld. This former military training area is now a beautiful nature reserve with pine trees and heathland. Cycling along the Overijssels Canal is peaceful, while looking out over the water and the swaying reeds. The Oxerhof estate belonged to the Duke of Gelre until 1650, and you can still see an eighteenth-century farm there. At Gorssel you cross the IJssel, further on you pass the Bolswerkmolen, a sawmill from 1863. The route ends at Hotel Restaurant Huis Vermeer.
