Description
The Rucphense Bossen are located between Roosendaal and Rucphen, a forest area of approximately 1,200 hectares that extends to the border with Belgium. This area was originally a cover sand ridge and you will still find drifting sand areas and heathland there.
Real Dutch windmills
On the rest of the route you will pass two beautiful windmills. You will first encounter Mill De Hoop in Sprundel. The round stone mill was built in 1840 on behalf of Cornelis Peters. The mill was used as a flour mill for a long time, but is now decommissioned. The Heimolen is the second mill you come across. This mill dates from 1886. The mill now runs occasionally with the help of a volunteer miller.
