Description
You start at Bolletjescafé de Klok. Explore the cozy courtyards of Alkmaar, cycle along the old canals and discover the narrow streets. Wander through the area and enjoy the beautiful view of the North Sea that the Schoorlse Duinen offers you when you have found your way through Boswachterij Schoorl. The heathlands, which can also be found in this area, are unique in combination with the dunes. Nowhere in the Netherlands are they wider or higher than here. During your bike ride you will come across a number of beautiful mills, such as the four ironing mills (Ironing Mill B, Ironing Mill C, Ironing Mill D and Ironing Mill E). There used to be as many as fourteen. Three of the four mills are ground sailors that were built in 1630. Ironing mill E was installed two years earlier.
