Tour of Ootmarsum, Denekamp and Oldenzaal

The route starts at Eetcafe Plexat/Steaks & Bites. Today you will enjoy the special nature of the Lutterzand, an area that was designated a geological monument in 2007. The ancient river Dinkel meanders through the area. The idyllic stream keeps the natural environment alive, because it moves up to half a meter every year, pushing itself through the sandy soil. Sand drifts, heathlands and forests with birch and oak are intersected by the Dinkel. The sand martin nests on steep banks along the stream, but the kingfisher and the large yellow wagtail also whistle the highest song in the Lutterzand. The beautiful Singraven estate in Denekamp is also enchanting. A nice place to get a taste of the atmosphere along the route is Ootmarsum.
