Description

Via Ansen you cycle to the Dwingelderveld. Imagine yourself far from civilization among the rolling heathlands, more than sixty ponds and fens, drifting sandy soils and forests in the largest wet heathland area in Western Europe. Dwingelderveld National Park is unique in terms of size, but also special in terms of flora and fauna. Get off in Dwingeloo for a snack or drink at Restaurant-Bar De Riete. Dwingeloo is one of the best preserved green villages in the Netherlands! Echten Castle was built in the fifteenth century. The castle dates from the Middle Ages, when it was still a hall tower castle. It no longer really looks medieval due to the eighteenth-century facade, but it is still intact. The castle is located on an island that can be reached via a bridge and is completely surrounded by a moat.
