Description

You first cross the Niers, a small river that originates in Germany and is approximately 110 kilometers long. Only the last 11 kilometers does it flow through the Netherlands. From the bridge you have a beautiful view of the surroundings. Here you will find grasslands, wet bushes, willows and poplars. You will also pass the Roepaan Estate, of the Maria Roepaan monastery. Then you cycle to Kalbeck Palace. The first written mention dates from 1326, when Count Reinald II of Gelre lent the house to Dirk Loef III of Kleef. In 1614 it fell into Prussian hands. The castle is currently privately owned. You drive back to the Netherlands via Goch.
