Tour of Waterland and Ilperveld from Monnickendam

Your cycling route starts at Orphanage Monnickendam, a beautiful sixteenth-century building on the edge of the center of Monnickendam. In the cozy tearoom you can enjoy a cup of tea or coffee - with the famous apple pie of course! You cycle through Monnickendam via the Wendelmoet residential location. After a beautiful view of Marken and the dam, you continue to Uitdam, the Uitdammer Die en Broek creek in Waterland. In the Waterland you cycle through a mosaic of grasslands, ditches and reed collars. The Ilperveld is a well-preserved peat meadow area: it turned out to be unsuitable for agriculture. At Ilpendam you will pass a beautiful viewpoint that gives you a good idea of the vastness of the landscape here. You cycle back into Monnickendam via the Purmer Ee.
