Tour of the Amsterdam Forest and Amstel

The starting point of this cycle route is the cozy Café Op de Hoek in Kudelstaart. You first cycle to the Fort at Kudelstaart. Here, two of the two fort guard houses and the storage shed are still present, as is the canal. You continue along `de Poel` as the people of Aalsmeer call the Westeinderplassen. There are about 50 marinas along the banks. Nevertheless, pike, eel and the rare European catfish swim here. Aalsmeer is world famous thanks to the lively flower trade that developed in and around the town. You soon come through Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. Here you see a mix of old and new buildings. Via the Amsterdamse Bos you cycle to the Amstel and the Rondehoep. Just like the Beemster, this polder is a characteristic reclamation landscape with a unique history.
