Description

The starting point of this cycle route is the cozy Café Op de Hoek in Kudelstaart. You first cycle to the Fort at Kudelstaart. Two of the two fort keeper's houses and the mountain shed are still present here, as is the moat. You continue along 'de Poel', as the people of Aalsmeer call the Westeinderplassen. There are about 50 marinas along the banks. Yet pike, eel and the rare European catfish swim here. Aalsmeer is world famous thanks to the lively flower trade that developed in and around the town. You will soon pass through Ouderkerk aan de Amstel. You will see a mix of old and new buildings here. You cycle via the Amsterdamse Bos to the Amstel and the Rondehoep. Just like the Beemster, this polder is a characteristic reclamation landscape with a unique history.
