Brakel: Haeyesbos - Livierenbos - Monday Coulter

Only 4.5 km away, but with all the ingredients of the Flemish Ardennes: majestic beech forest, woodland drives, relief changes, capricious stream valleys and undulating coulters ... and in early spring, of course, the striking carpets of wood anemones and bluebells. Park along the road at the corner of Kroonstraat with Hoogbos in Everbeek-Boven. Enter the Haeyesbos. At Junction 86, ignore the steep slope to the left and turn right. Make a wide turn through a beautiful hollow forest road and past an old chapel. At the white house at the bottom of the cobbled mule path you turn left, leaving the knot network for a while, with an old orchard on the right and a wastine on the left. At the next fork, at the foot of a steep slope, you are back on the knot network. Turn right, cross the wooden chicane bridge and follow a picturesque path along the edge of a rolling meadow. At the end of this path (junction 87), turn left through a short lane flanked by hawthorn hedges. This turns into the long main road through the Livierenbos, which you follow for 1 km to junction 35. Turn left here and follow a narrow, winding forest path through a beautiful piece of valley forest. A steep climb brings you to the edge of the Maankouter. Follow the edge of the woods and fields until an asphalt road. Follow this small road - passing junction 36 - and after 500 m turn left onto a country road towards junction 3, which you will reach after 100 m. Go straight on here, following junction 86. After an open farmland with a view of the southern edge of the Haeyesbos, you return to the starting point.
