Description

In picturesque Ammerstol you can first grab a cozy terrace at Eetcafé Het Gebouw, before putting on your walking shoes. You immediately get on the ferry to the other side, where you can already see the church tower of Groot-Ammers. A nice loop on both sides of the Lek, through the polders and past the small town of Bergstoep leads you back to your starting point for a tasty lunch. The second half of the route takes you around the Buitenlanden, a rugged nature reserve where reed stems were once mined. Baskets were woven from these stalks, including for the former salmon industry in Ammerstol. Then you walk back into the village over the beautiful Lekdijk, while looking out over the rippling water to the right. Typically Dutch this walk!
