This route takes you through the southern tip of Belgium in the Harnoncourt area. You cycle along the border with France. Among other things, you can take a look at the small village of Torgny. This village has been voted one of the most beautiful villages in Wallonia. Furthermore, the landscape here consists of beautiful forest areas with an old farm here and there.
Harnoncourt and Lamorteau
The starting point of this route is in Harnoncourt. This village is located in the valley of Ton, a river that rises at Châtillon and flows into the river Chiers. This village is named after an honorable family, of which the famous orchestra conductor Nikolaus Harnoncourt is a descendant. In Harnoncourt is the house where the Harnoncourts lived for a long time. Another village you cycle through is Lamorteau. This village is located about 800 meters from the French border and has been flooded several times with water from the river Ton.
The beautiful Torgny
Torgny is the jewel in this area. You will find, among other things, an ancient washing place in the village, but also a hermitage and a chapel, parts of which date from the 17th century. Until 1659, Torgny was a well-known place of pilgrimage to which pilgrims flocked in large numbers.
