Description
The area around Wijchen consists of winding dikes, forests and meadows. The first part of this route takes you along the banks of the Maas to Overasselt. You will pass the Maasmolen, a corn mill from 1741. A little further on you can visit the Agrarisch Museum de Garstkamp. At De nieuwe Schatkuil you are welcome on the farm terrace for a drink and a snack. Then you cycle through the Hatertse and Overasseltse Vennen. This gently undulating nature reserve consists of a beautiful mix of coniferous forest, fens and river dunes. In Wijchen you will pass, among other things, an ancient tower: the only remnant of what was once a castle.
