Description

The Drents-Friese Wold National Park is located on the border of Drenthe and Friesland. This cycle route largely runs through this park, which consists of forest, heathland and shifting sands. Certainly as beautiful as Dwingelerveld National Park, but much quieter! You get on in the small town of Wapse, at Hotel Restaurant De Wapser Herberg. This is a cozy family hotel full of nostalgic items. Definitely worth a look before you start your bike ride. Just before you enter the green village of Doldersum, you cross the Vledder Aa. This stream originates in the Drents-Friese Wold. Here you will also find a sheepfold and a watchtower that offers a beautiful view of the Doldersummerveld, a wet heathland. Take a break along the way at Restaurant Aekingerzand, right on the beautiful Aeckingermeer, or Canadameer!
