Fairytale castle route around Amerongen

During this bike tour you will see the best of the Utrechtse Heuvelrug. Drifting sand areas, vast heaths, dense forests and fens. You'll find it all here. Pine martens, noctule bats and special ground beetles live between the trees of the Amerongse and Zuilensteinse forests, and a wide variety of plants grow in this area. There is also plenty to see on this route in terms of cultural history. After about 25 kilometers you will arrive at the fairytale-like Residence Rhenen. Do you fancy a tasty meal? Then take a seat in the attractive restaurant that is located in the former Oranjerie. The restaurant is located in the middle of lush nature. When it is time to continue the tour, you will set course for Amerongen. On the south side of this town you will pass Amerongen Castle, which has existed since 1286.
