Sallandse Heuvelrug Tour: Haarlerberg and Holterberg

Your route starts at Brasserie Dertien. From here, you'll cycle smoothly to Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park, an area that lives up to its name. Legend has it that the hills were formed by a giant carrying a bag of sand. The bag supposedly had a hole in it, allowing the sand to leak out. The views of the beautiful surroundings are a wonderful reward for your efforts. The ancient juniper bushes are particularly picturesque. This area is home to one of the two remaining groups of black grouse in the Netherlands. Near Nijverdal, you'll find the visitor center, which is worth a visit. Also, visit the Holterberg Nature Diorama and cycle into the charming and touristy town of Holten, at the foot of the famous Holterberg.
