Tour of the Sallandse Heuvelrug: Haarler and Holterberg

Your route starts at Brasserie Dertien. From here you can easily cycle to Sallandse Heuvelrug National Park, an area that lives up to its name. According to legend, the hills were created by a giant who carried a bag of sand with him. There may have been a hole in the bag through which the sand leaked out. The views of the beautiful surroundings are a great reward for your effort. The ancient juniper bushes are especially beautiful. One of the two remaining groups of grouse in the Netherlands still lives in this area. At Nijverdal you will find the visitor center, which is worth a visit. Also take a look at the Holterberg Nature Diorama and cycle into the cozy and touristy Holten, at the foot of the famous Holterberg.
