From Maasbommel through the Land van Maas en Waal

From Maasbommel you make a route through the Land of Maas and Waal. A day full of natural beauty and interesting places awaits you.

Dike warehouse
From Maasbommel you can ride your legs over the dike along the Gouden Ham, a former Maasmeander. You have beautiful vistas over the water, you also see some beautiful monumental farms. In Moleneind you pass an old dike warehouse. In earlier times, sandbags, wheelbarrows and shovels, among other things, were stored here to reinforce the dikes at high water. In Appeltern you will see two churches on the left side of the road: the Zaalkerk from 1858 and the Sint-Servatiuskerk from 1907.

In picturesque Batenburg you suddenly seem to be taking a leap back in time. There are so many beautiful old buildings here! You can see the Oude Sint-Victorkerk and the ruins of Kasteel Batenburg: one of the oldest castles in Gelderland. At Hill\\\'s you step off for a refreshing terrace on the water. De Verrekijker is a former corn mill from 1904. Back in Maasbommel you pass two more beautiful old churches.
