Your route starts with a nice breakfast at Bakkerij Bakker in Herwijnen. First you cycle to W05-Herwijnen - Fort near the Nieuwe Steeg. The fortress was built in 1879 as part of the New Dutch Waterline. Today it is furnished as the GeoExperience, an educational attraction in the field of cartography and navigation. When you cycle towards Vuren, you will see Fort Vuren. Together with Fort Loevestein, it had to prevent enemies from moving to the west. In Gorinchem you can see beautiful windmills. De Hoop was built in 1764 as a flour mill on the city wall. The mill was damaged by aircraft bombs in 1944, but has been restored during the war. Corn mill Never Perfect was rebuilt after a fire with parts from oil mill'Nooit Perfect\\\' and that is how it got its new name.
