Amersfoort, Driedorp and Nijkerk

In the area around Nijkerk and Amersfoort you will find different types of landscape. You will not be bored for a moment on this varied cycling route and continue to enjoy water from the meadows and fields used for arable farming, the built-up areas of the cities and the shelter of the trees. In the hamlet of Appel (municipality of Nijkerk) is the beautiful scaffolding mill'De Hoop\\\', which was built in 1888. Across the road another tower mill burned down, where this windmill was built in its place. De Hoop was built as an octagonal flour mill covered with wood and thatched on a stone substructure. The wooden octagon belonged to an oil mill in Zwolle and there are two pairs of millstones in the mill. One flock is used to voluntarily grind barley, maize and wheat for animal feed.
