Description

South of Ommen you can relax in the vast forests. You pass through Junne, a hamlet that still largely consists of old thatched Saxon farms and ash trees. It will take little effort for you to experience the atmosphere of the past here. You cross the Overijsselse Vecht via the Junner Weir, constructed in 1915. The associated lock keeper's house dates from the same year. Between the pine trees of the Diffelerveld you drive to Rheeze, one of the most beautiful villages in Overijssel. You will also pass the Vechtdal Hooglanders farm shop. Eerde Castle is the last historical attraction on your route. In the late Middle Ages it was a castle, the current building dates from 1715.
