A day of cycling through nature between Rotterdam and Nieuwerkerk aan den IJssel? Why not! The diversity of this route will amaze you. First you drive past the Rottemeren that were created after the draining of the surrounding polders. From the banks you have beautiful views over the water. You pass the Bleiswijkse Droogmakerij C-1, a polder mill from 1773 of which only the hull remains. You drive along the peat river Rotte to the Kralingse Bos. At the Kralingse Plas you see the Ster from 1866 and the Lelie from 1740. These are the only two so-called snuff mills in the Netherlands: mills where snuff is made. At Muller&Co Nieuwerkerk you can enjoy a delicious meal before you drive back to the Rottemeren. Here you see the Eendrachtsmolen from 1727.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
