A piece of desert in the Netherlands

This part of the Veluwe surprises you with an unexpected desert-like sand plain of about 700 hectares, heathlands and pastures where the horizon seems to be miles away. The leafy forests around the former forestry Garderen, Boeschoten, are also old. It was already mentioned in 1326 and used to be one of the estates from which hunting took place on the Veluwe. The route starts on the edge of the Veluwe village of Garderen at De Beeldentuin.
