Description

When you have parked your car in the free parking lot, you cycle to Lexmond. The next point of interest on the route is a seesaw mill that was put into operation as a polder mill: the Hoekmolen was built to drain the Neder- and Over-Heicop polder. In 2004 the mill went wild and a fire started. A year later, the rebuilt mill was ready to grind again. Glasstad Leerdam is located on the Linge, surrounded by reed beds and water lilies. The town was founded in 1143 and obtained city rights in 1382. In the eighteenth century, the wood and glass industries took off. Take a break at De Houtloods Leerdam, at the Glass Museum! You cycle back past Molen De Bonk, a seesaw mill that was installed around 1853 to drain the Lakerveldpolder.
