Description

Once you have parked your car in the free car park, you cycle to Lexmond. The next attraction on the route is a hollow post mill that was put into operation as a polder mill: the Hoekmolen was built to drain the Neder- and Over-Heicop polder. In 2004, the mill went crazy and a fire broke out. A year later, the rebuilt mill was operational again. Situated on the Linge, surrounded by reed banks and water lilies, lies Glasstad Leerdam. The town was founded in 1143 and obtained city rights in 1382. In the eighteenth century, the wood and glass industries took off. Take a break at De Houtloods Leerdam, at the Glass Museum! You cycle back past Molen De Bonk, a hollow post mill that was placed around 1853 to drain the Lakerveldpolder.
