Description

Tip; If you want to cycle this route, you can park your car here, but you must first pay an entrance fee.

This varied route takes you past vast heathlands, past sand drifts and through the deciduous and coniferous forests of the Veluwe. The meadows and picturesque tourist villages occasionally provide a pleasant change and the terrace of the bicycle café"De Vergulde Leeuw\\\" invites you for a snack.

In Hoenderloo you will find the De Hoge Veluwe National Park with 5,400 hectares of forest, heathland, fens and drifting sand. At dusk you have a chance of spotting a red deer or roe deer. Here you will also find the Museonder, the first underground museum in the world. Here you get a good idea of everything that lives and has lived beneath the earth's surface. The Kröller-Müller Museum is also located in the park.

At the southernmost point of the route you will pass the Dutch Tile Museum, with a large collection of Dutch wall tiles and tile tableaus. You see how they are made, painted and baked.
In the middle of the deserted Veluwe drifting sands you will find the monumental building of Radiozender Station Kootwijk. The central hall, where gigantic dynamos used to be located, is now used for all kinds of events.
Schaapskooi Hoog Buurlo is a centuries-old agricultural enclave in the heart of the Veluwe. There are three sheepfolds and two old farmhouses. The Hoog Buurlo area still has the same shape as three centuries ago: roughly a circular shape, bordered by beech avenues.

Towards Hoenderloo you cycle through the Staatsbosbeheer sites: Boswachterij Uchelen and Hoenderloo.
