Mill route near Wijchen

In the countryside of Wijchen you can take a real windmill route. But there is much more to experience here! What to think of the Crown Work Coehoorn: the famous fortification builder had a defense line constructed in the NEderasselt floodplains around 1700 to defend Grave. You can still discover the contours of the bastion from the bushes in the field! Further on you pass the Maasmolen from 1741. You drive through the polder to De Nieuwe Schatkuil: time for a cozy farm terrace! Then you cycle past the former Schoonoord mill, further on you will see the Wijchens Ven: an ancient river arm. You can enjoy nature in the Hatertse and Overasseltse Vennen. The Joannus mill dates from 1894, the Zeldenrust from 1890. You can get a breath of fresh air on the Maasdijk.
