What is called a terp in Friesland is called a mound in Groningen. This route allows you to admire several centuries-old churches that were built on such a mound.
Groningen
From this historic city you drive into Groningen's old cultural landscape of grasslands and arable lands. How wonderful it is to cycle here! You will soon arrive in Lellens, a beautiful authentic Groningen hamlet.
Beautiful Middelstum
Further on you will pass through a number of villages with characteristic medieval churches, such as Thesinge and Ten Boer. The historic center of Middelstum enjoys a protected village view. Here you will see, among other things, the beautiful old gatehouse from 1611 of the former Asingaborg. The nave of the old church in Garmerwolde was once demolished, so that the old tower now stands alone: a nice sight. There are also a number of beautiful windmills along your route.
Below you will find various suggestions for breaks that you can visit during your route. These are divided into different categories, making it easy for you to choose.
