A broken beauty in brick, this originally Romano-Gothic cross church. Built at the end of the 13th century with a Latin cross as the ground plan. The free-standing saddle-roof tower dates from the same period. In 1594 (Reduction of Groningen) this parish church was taken into use by the Protestants. Everything reminiscent of Roman Catholic worship was removed, except the piscina. This remained so until the restoration between 1941 and 1943.
