Tour of Maasheggen and Boxmeer Castle

Your cycling route starts at Hotel-Cafe Restaurant't Departure. Boxmeer is surrounded by meadow areas and the Maasheggen and Brestbosch nature reserves. Be sure to take the time to visit Boxmeer Castle Museum. Boxmeer Castle used to exist as a real fortress overlooking the Maas, but after various sieges and destruction a noble country house was built on this site of the castle. In this building, noble and religious worlds come together, by highlighting the history and the prominent former owners and painting a picture of the way of life of the current pious residents. From members of the noble Van den Bergh and later Von Hohenzollern-Sigmaringen families, ownership passed to the Sisters of Julie Postel. Your route also takes you past Stevensbeek, Sint Anthonis and Sambeek.
