Description

The cycle route first takes you through Milsbeek. The village of Milsbeek owes its name to a stream with rust-colored water, coming from a swampy peat (mil means rust-colored water). Nowadays the stream is called the Kroonbeek. Drink a cup of coffee at Restaurant de Baronie in Boxmeer. In the Middle Ages, the village of Mere was loaned to Jan Boc de Mere, who lived at the castle. Boc\\\'s Mere became Boxmeer. In Sint Agatha you will see a white-painted stone belt mill, the Jan van Cuijk, which can still regularly be seen in operation. You cycle back via Cuijk. Relatively many people lived in this region hundreds of years before Christ. The Celts kept cattle, cultivated their land in a primitive way and lived in large wooden huts or barns.
