The cycle route first takes you through Milsbeek. The village of Milsbeek owes its name to a stream with rust-brown water, coming from a swampy peat (mil means rust-colored water). Nowadays the stream is called the Kroonbeek. Drink a cup of coffee in Boxmeer at Hotel-Cafe Restaurant't Vertrek. In the Middle Ages, the village of Mere was loaned to Jan Boc de Mere, who lived at the castle. Boc\\\'s Mere became Boxmeer. In Sint Agatha you will see a white-painted stone mill, the Jan van Cuijk, which can still be seen in operation regularly. You cycle back via Cuijk. Relatively many people lived in this region hundreds of years before Christ. The Celts kept cattle, cultivated their land in a primitive way and lived in large wooden huts or barns.
