Secrets of the Bulb Region

Discover the secrets of the Bulb Region! In the middle of the Kagerplassen lies the picturesque Kaageiland, with many terraces on the water. On an island in't Joppe you will find Brasserie Coazy, a nice place for a cup of coffee. The history here is also special. Six or seven old Roman forts are hidden under the center of Valkenburg: in the Castellumplein the contours of the Praetorium Agrippinae fort are marked with dark gray tiles in the paving. Museum Oud Valkenburg shows a permanent exhibition about the Roman heritage. Sunken in the waves near Katwijk lies one of the best kept secrets of the Bulb Region: the remains of the old Roman settlement Lugdunum. From 1520 until the 17th century, remains occasionally emerged above water or from the sand.
