From Grand Café De Steeg you cycle through the countryside of Borne, a beautiful area with the hilly landscape of the Zendersche Esch, the ancient history of the Weleveld Estate and the meandering Bornsebeek that makes its way through the Twente bocage landscape. Around the many farms you will see meadows where cows and sheep graze in the summer. At Fleringen you will pass the Fleringer Mill, Herinckhave Castle, also an estate, and the water mill. The Stift is also on the route: an old and protected village scene, founded in the 12th century. It was originally a Benedictine monastery, which was later converted into a monastery. Noble young ladies lived and worked here in a monastic context. The original canal has been filled in, the church has been renovated and the Stiftsschuur has been converted from an old farm stable into a restaurant.
