Tour of Borne, Zenderen and Het Stift

From Grand Café De Steeg you cycle through the countryside of Borne, a beautiful area with the hilly landscape of the Zendersche Esch, the old history of the Weleveld estate and the meandering Bornsebeek that makes its way through the Twente coulisse landscape. Around the many farms you see meadows where cows and sheep graze in the summer. At Fleringen you pass the Fleringer Molen, Kasteel Herinckhave, also an estate, and the watermill. The Stift is also on the route: an old and protected village view, which originated in the 12th century. Originally it was a Benedictine monastery, which was later converted into a Stift. Here noble young ladies lived and worked in a monastic context. The original moat was filled in, the church was renovated and the Stiftsschuur was transformed from an old farm stable into a restaurant.
